Social Communication Department
THERE ARE NO FURTHER PLACES AVAILABLE IN THE SOCIAL COMMUNICATION DEPARTMENT
Wigmore Primary School has a Social Communication Department (known as ‘Dolphins’), for children with an Autism Spectrum Disorder and is an integral part of the school.
At Wigmore Primary School, we recognise that each child with autism will present differently and that the degree and extent of difficulty they experience in the areas of social communication, social interaction and patterns of behaviours will vary between individuals. Additionally, we acknowledge that these pupils often have sensory sensitivities too, which can greatly impact their ability to learn and cope within different environments.
We endeavour to develop the whole child by encouraging and building on their individual strengths and effectively supporting their specific areas of difficulty, to enable each child to achieve their full potential and gain greater independence and self-confidence. We aim to provide a learning environment and curriculum that is adapted to the individual needs of each child and differentiated to their level of ability and development.
If you are considering a place for your child in the Social Communication Department, please contact Simone Naidoo, the Teacher in Charge of the Social Communication Department.
